I got hooked on this game with Windows 98. It seems that it disappeared after Windows XP, from the Windows OS. Interesting history and reasons for its disappearance here (including instructions to run it on Windows systems) It is possible to get it running on Linux systems as well. I run it on Ubuntu by way of PlayOnLinux – available from the Ubuntu repositories. That way you do not have to struggle directly with Wine. For years I pined to run it in full screen mode which did not seem available in Linux. Recently I changed my desktop set-up to Gnome compiz flashback. I do have a basic 3D graphics card as well (ATI RV350 AS Radeon 9550 ). By chance I discovered that on this configuration, you hit F4, after loading the game, and it runs in full screen! It can also be done via "Options". Hope I made someone's day!

Just in case your panels have no arrows to close them: It is easy enough to add them.
Hit the Microsoft key (often second key from the left on the bottom keyboard row) simultaneously with the Alt key next to it. Keep them depressed and right-click on whichever panel you want to add the arrows to.
A menu box appears. Now select the "Properties" item.
A Panel Properties box appears. Select the "Show hide buttons"
Now that panel has buttons to make it disappear! Do the same for the other panels as required.

The good news is that on Ubuntu 16.04 (64 bit) the full screen options for Space Cadet work flawlessly (without any tweaking) in both the Unity and Compiz desktops.
