Really, I strongly feel that universities should return to the 'hard' disciplines they limited themselves to untill about 50 years ago.
Universities should confine themselves to things such as maths, physics, chemistry, philosophy, literature, languages and the traditional professions. When a university starts to have faculties for hairdressing and interior design is when I seriously begin to question the standards of their tuition across the board.
A degree must be elitist and exclusive. That is what they are for. I strongly suspect that this trend to have a degree available for ever Tom, Dick and Harry is a deliberate drive to undermine that.
