South Africa to take black spot row with EU to WTO
SA HAS lost patience with the European Union’s (EU’s) stance on the alleged effects of South African citrus fruit with black spot on EU orchards and is taking the issue to the World Trade Organisation (WTO). SA will also challenge the EU’s continued threat to ban SA’s citrus fruit exports.
Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies said on Thursday SA was left with no choice but to take on the EU at the WTO, a move that will make history as SA becomes the first African country to take the EU through the WTO’s dispute resolution process.
