The best recording I could find, unfortunately.
Not that I have a problem with the artists - the tenor sounds quite promising. I do believe that the quality of the recording can be much improved.
There are currently several South African singers of world standard.
Johan Botha is outstanding and in some ways capable of things previously thought impossible. His weight problems have a significant impact on his career, though.
Rita van den Heever's daughter Elza (from my valley - my aunt was one of her teachers at school) is becoming one of the world's significant sopranos. She is also tending towards becoming heavier than she should really be.
Anyway, maybe somebody should get some of these people together and produce the definitive album of Afrikaans lieder. If only for eventual historical purposes.
