I never realised that the cat had anything to do with quantum physics (of which I do not know much except electrons falling and jumping energy levels). Presumably it also ties in with electrons displaying both particle and wave forms? Perhaps the significance of this is that seemingly magical, random behaviour is actually anchored firmly in mechanics?
