These people offend very easily. The professor should know that, having lived in South Africa all her life. The title of the study is a bit of a misnomer, though: The study itself is more about pursuing a career in wildlife conservation, rather than studying biological sciences. Conservation is a tiny and almost negligible branch of biological sciences per se. And as far as wildlife is concerned, blacks really have very little interest in it. You will almost never find blacks hiking, camping, mountaineering, fishing, river rafting, bungee jumping, canoeing or even hunting for relaxation or as a hobby. Their idea of fun is to book into some hotel, watch movies, go gambling, partying, drinking on so on. Basically a Vegas thing - a lot like the stereotypical American. So I do not find it surprising at all that conservation is not high on their interest list.

The sort of activities they do pursue in the wild are hunting with dogs, throwing tortoises and birds with stones, stomping on succulents, catching antelope and rabbits in snares, collecting plants for sale and having drinking parties in the orchards.
