“I’m disciplined because of what I do for a living,” Von Teese says. “I’m not ever trying to lose weight—I just feel better when I eat well.” For Von Teese, that means eating vegan and clean foods like sushi. Some of her favorite “snack foods” include vegetable crudités, fresh fruits—whole strawberries, blueberries, papaya and mango—all-natural peanut butter and celery sticks, sliced avocados, raw almonds, Evian water with lemon, green and black teas, and coconut water.
And if these super foods weren’t enough, Von Teese begins each day with the ultimate wakeup. “I drink this thing called the Glowing Green Smoothie every morning,” she says. “It’s from a book called Beauty Detox Solution, and it’s 70 percent greens and 30 percent fruit. Even so, this dancer also understands the benefits of moderation. “I find that I can have a more relaxed dinner if I eat healthy during the day,” she says, of her vegan by day, omnivore by night routine. “You know I’ve been eating healthy all day, but I’m fantasizing about eating Mexican food tonight.”
If that doesn’t answer the question of what is a healthy diet, then we don’t know what will.
